Art as Code: Kelly often employs the formal device of the grid to fuse together references to her own cultural connections to Germany and Peru — and their respective art making histories and traditions — within her paintings.
Art as Knowledge: Kelly’s research-led practice draws on a variety of sources from science to art history. For Kelly, the creative process is itself a method of research, providing her with the opportunity to investigate different ideas and concepts through the act of making.
