Diena Georgetti combines patterns and motifs from art, architecture, fashion, and design into compositions inspired by early modernist styles. Georgetti has specialised in borrowing from modern art and works with an extensive repertoire of images and details, making her selections according to a personal and somewhat eccentric logic.

Part idealist, part surrealist, Georgetti constructs her own personal utopia from these fragments. The titles are a guide to the work, often scraps of dialogue or song titles, and generally refer to the artist’s life or her attitudes towards her work.

Over the last two decades Georgetti has maintained a steady exhibition profile both in Brisbane and interstate, and has also often curated and written about the work of other artists of her generation.

Diena Georgetti has exhibited a number of bodies of works in recent years which are all, in their different ways, devoted to idiosyncratic combinations of personal interests explored through modern and post-modern styles and tropes. Her current paintings are at once delightful, playful and erudite, composed from an extensive repertoire of images and details taken from the history of European modern art and contemporary design.

Diena Georgetti paints in high-quality archival Japanese acrylic paint which, in its luminosity, closely resembles oil paint.
